Dr. Amit Dey is a Professor of History, the Dept. of History, Centre For Advanced Studies, Univ. of Calcutta "Raja Rammohun Roy's religious ideas with reference to Islam". Prof. Dey is an exponent of Islam and Sufism in Medieval and Modern South Asia. The discourse will take place at 6:00 pm in the Assembly Hall of the Museum. It will be presided by Dr. Madhushree Ghosh - Chairperson Musuem Committee.
  Prof. Sugata Bose delivers annual lecture on 22nd May 2015

Eminent historian and Member of Parliament Prof. Sugata Bose delivered the annual lecture at the museum on the ocassion of the 243rd birth anniversary of Raja Rammohun Roy. Dr. Bose who is a Professor of History at the Harvard University spoke on "Rammohun O Banglar Nabojagoran." Speaking at the occassion Dr. Bose spoke at length of the prevalant socio economic status and conditions in Bengal at that time. He spoke at length how the ideals of Rammohun paved the way for the Renaissance to happen in India and why Rammohun was called the Father of Modern India.
