Sri Jawhar Sircar to speak at the 245th Birth Anniversary Program

Former Cultural Secretary of India and Chairman, Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Kolkata and Ex-CEO of Prasar Bharati - Sri Jawhar Sircar will grace the speaking at the 245th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Raja Rammohun Roy on "Hindu Patriarchy in Rammohun's Time : Durga & Other Issues". The discourse will take place at 6:00 pm in the Assembly Hall of the Museum. It will be presided by Dr. Madhushree Ghosh - Chairperson Musuem Committee.
  Prof. Sugata Bose delivers annual lecture on 22nd May 2015

Eminent historian and Member of Parliament Prof. Sugata Bose delivered the annual lecture at the museum on the ocassion of the 243rd birth anniversary of Raja Rammohun Roy. Dr. Bose who is a Professor of History at the Harvard University spoke on "Rammohun O Banglar Nabojagoran." Speaking at the occassion Dr. Bose spoke at length of the prevalant socio economic status and conditions in Bengal at that time. He spoke at length how the ideals of Rammohun paved the way for the Renaissance to happen in India and why Rammohun was called the Father of Modern India.
